How to itemise Lancelot and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Lancelot

Lancelot relies on mobility and rapid skill sequences to stack his passive, Soul Cutter, while utilizing invulnerability frames from Thorned Rose and Phantom Execution. Because Puncture resets its cooldown upon applying a Sword Mark to an unmarked target, Lancelot excels at dashing through lanes and jungle camps to target enemy squishies. This build focuses on maximizing his burst damage, physical attack scaling, and skill uptime while granting crucial survivability during risky dives. By combining cooldown reduction with high attack power and true damage effects, Lancelot can weave basic attacks between skill casts, turning him into a lethal jungle assassin capable of bursting targets and escaping safely.

Item by item

Ice Hunter's Magic Boots

Early

Ice Hunter's Magic Boots accelerate Lancelot's jungle clear by granting extra true damage against creeps while providing valuable cooldown reduction. Shorter cooldowns allow Lancelot to cast Puncture and Thorned Rose more frequently during early ganks. The movement speed and upgraded Retribution boost his map mobility and objective control over the Turtle, establishing an early lead.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Hunter: After dealing damage to a Creep, deal 25<2|lv 3> + True Damage to the target over 3s (damage is increased by 100% for non-Marksmen heroes).

Blade of the Heptaseas elevates Lancelot's ambush potential. Its Ambush passive boosts his first basic attack after entering combat, stacking perfectly with the bonus damage gained from Soul Cutter after initiating with Puncture. The applied slow keeps enemies trapped inside the center of Thorned Rose, guaranteeing maximum damage and allowing Lancelot to quickly delete fragile targets.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Ambush: If no damage is taken or dealt within 5s (excluding from Minions or Creeps), the next Basic Attack will deal an additional 160 Physical Damage and slow the target by 40% for 1.5s.

Hunter Strike gives Lancelot heavy physical attack and essential cooldown reduction. Landing hits with Thorned Rose rapidly triggers the Retribution passive, granting a sudden burst of movement speed. This mobility complements Puncture, enabling Lancelot to reposition effortlessly, pursue fleeing enemies, or safely disengage after executing his full combo with Phantom Execution.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Retribution: Dealing damage to the same enemy hero or creep 5 times in a row grants 50% extra Movement Speed that decays over 3s (8s cooldown).

Endless Battle fits naturally into Lancelot's spell-casting rhythm. Its Divine Justice passive converts his frequent skill casts, such as continuous Puncture resets, into bonus true damage on his subsequent basic attack. This helps overcome Lancelot's weakness against tankier targets while providing spell vamp and cooldown reduction to sustain him in extended skirmishes.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Divine Justice: After casting a skill, the next Basic Attack within 3s deals 60% Physical Attack as extra True Damage (1.5s cooldown).

Blade of Despair dramatically increases Lancelot's late-game burst potential. The massive physical attack stat enhances the scaling on both Thorned Rose and Phantom Execution. Furthermore, the Despair passive triggers when hitting low-health enemies, ensuring that any target softened up by dashes or team poke is immediately finished off by his ultimate.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Despair: Dealing damage to non-Minion enemies below 50% HP increases Physical Attack by 25% for 2s (takes effect before the damage is dealt).

Queen's Wings

Situational

Queen's Wings serves as vital insurance when diving deep into enemy lines. When Lancelot takes heavy damage, the Demonize passive grants damage reduction and spell vamp, giving him enough time to trigger the untargetable state of Thorned Rose or Phantom Execution. This prevents him from being bursted down while contesting major objectives like the Lord.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Demonize: When HP drops below 40%, gains 20% Damage Reduction and 35% extra Spell Vamp for 5s (60s cooldown).

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

Against elusive, high-mobility squishies

Prioritize Blade of the Heptaseas right after boots. The burst from Ambush combined with the slow effect ensures that targets struck by Puncture cannot escape the central damage zone of Thorned Rose.

When facing heavy enemy burst or aggressive invaders

Complete Hunter Strike early for extra mobility, and consider building Queen's Wings earlier. The movement speed boost helps dodge skillshots, while Demonize grants survivability when Lancelot is caught without invulnerability frames.
