How to itemise Aurora and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Aurora

Aurora excels at controlling teamfights with heavy area crowd control and high burst damage, but her high skill cooldowns and mana demands bottleneck her playstyle. Furthermore, her ultimate Frigid Glacier scales freeze duration directly with her Magic Power, requiring significant offensive investment to maximize its crowd control impact. This build solves her early resource thirst while continuously stacking Magic Power to convert Frigid Glacier, Hailstone Blast, and Frosty Breeze into long-lasting, devastating freezes. Finally, late-game defensive options complement her Pride of Ice passive, granting Aurora safety when positioning aggressively to lock down multiple enemies during crucial objective fights.

Item by item

Magic Boots

Early

Magic Boots provide early cooldown reduction, allowing Aurora to cast Hailstone Blast more frequently for laning wave clear and poke. Faster skill availability helps clear Mid Lane quickly, enabling early rotations toward teamfights around the Turtle. Lower cooldowns also ensure Frosty Breeze is available more often to set up ganks or disrupt aggressive enemy midlaners, smoothing out her early game before completing her core damage items.

Enchanted Talisman solves Aurora's severe mana usage through continuous mana regeneration while giving vital cooldown reduction. Aurora can freely use Hailstone Blast to clear minion waves and poke without returning to base. Shorter cooldowns let her chain Frosty Breeze into Frigid Glacier more frequently in skirmishes, keeping constant pressure on objectives like the Turtle and maintaining non-stop teamfight participation.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Mana Spring: Regenerates 15% Max Mana every 10s.

Lightning Truncheon amplifies Aurora's burst capability by causing her skill damage to resonate across multiple enemies. When Aurora lands Frosty Breeze or Frigid Glacier into a crowded fight, the extra burst hits surrounding targets, dramatically boosting overall damage. The temporary movement speed boost after dealing damage helps Aurora safely reposition after dropping her spell combo, improving her survival during intense chaotic engagements.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Resonate: Every 6s, the next skill that deals damage will resonate, dealing Magic Damage equal to 120% Magic Power against up to 3 enemies and increasing Movement Speed by 30% that decays over 2s.

Holy Crystal substantially boosts Aurora's total Magic Power, directly empowering all of her skills. Crucially, Frigid Glacier gains extended freeze duration scaling with her total Magic Power, turning her ultimate into a long area lock-down. With Holy Crystal completed, landing Frigid Glacier alongside Hailstone Blast obliterates fragile targets while freezing surviving enemies long enough for teammates to follow up.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Mystery: Gains 21%-35% extra Magic Power (scales with level).

Blood Wings provides a massive boost to Magic Power along with a protective shield based on her Magic Power. This extra offensive power extends the freeze duration on Frigid Glacier and maximizes the damage of Hailstone Blast. The movement speed granted while the shield is active allows Aurora to position aggressively in late-game teamfights and escape dangerous dives without immediately triggering her passive.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Guard: Gains a shield equal to 200% of Magic Power. The shield will regenerate 20s after being damaged, and grants 30 Movement Speed while it lasts.

Immortality

Situational

Immortality offers a vital second safety net alongside Aurora's passive, Pride of Ice. If enemies manage to trigger Pride of Ice and force her invincible state, Immortality provides another chance at life upon resurrection. This defensive layering makes diving Aurora frustrating for enemy assassins, ensuring she survives long enough to cast a final Frosty Breeze or Frigid Glacier to turn the fight.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Immortal: Revives 2.5s after death, gaining 16% Max HP and a 220-1200 shield (scales with level) that lasts 3s (210s cooldown).

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

When facing aggressive divers and assassins who focus you early

Prioritize completing Immortality earlier after acquiring your core Magic Power items like Holy Crystal. Having both Immortality and your passive Pride of Ice ready makes diving you exceptionally difficult, allowing you to cast Frigid Glacier defensively at your feet to freeze incoming threats and survive their initial burst.

When your team needs maximum crowd control duration and burst

Rush Holy Crystal immediately after Lightning Truncheon to maximize your Magic Power as early as possible. Because Frigid Glacier increases its freeze duration based on your Magic Power, prioritizing offensive power over defensive options empowers your combination of Frosty Breeze and ultimate to lock down enemy clusters during major Lord clashes.
